An efficacy test using Bokashi organic fertilizer with Effective Microorganisms (EM) on the growth and yield of rice, potato, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, and onions was conducted in four locations in thePhilippines. Treatments involved the application of EM, bokashi, and inorganic fertilizers either singly or in combination. Analysis on yield, yield parameters, and occurrence of diseases between and among the treatments was done using DMRT.
Results showed a reduction in disease incidence with the application of EM bokashi to the vegetable crops. In rice, soil applied with EM and bokashi was darker in color and more pliable than in other treatments.
There was a significant increase in yield of potato and lettuce using EM and bokashi either singly or combined. The yield of rice, tomatoes, cabbage, and onions was highest when EM and bokashi are applied in combination with 1/2 the recommended rate of inorganic fertilizers.
