Regional development and ecological agriculture W16
Aubert, Claude Regional development is the basis of a sustainable econoly. Sustainability includes agricultural activities respectful of the environment and aimed, to a large extent, at the regional market. Small scale processiong, sales on farm and om local markets, ecotourism, etc. are part of this approch.
A few experiences have recently started in Europe to develop this new concept. Herdy Vogtmann will present the work he has initiated in the Land Hessen (Germany) and Claude Aubert the work of Terre Vivante within the framework of the PDD (Plan de Développement Durable) Sud-Isére (France).
Participants of the conference who have interesting experiences to communicate to the workshop are invited to make short presentations (5 to 10 minutes). The workshop could conclude with a statement proposing IFOAM policy on regional development.
